Magazine Genre Research- Food & Wine

     The cover layout consists of a center photo and the titles. The main focus point is the cooked whole turkey on a golden plate and is surrounded by blue berries on vines and what looks like apples with some leaves. The Food & Wine title is in bold white on the very top of the cover. The issue title "The Thanksgiving Issue" is displayed across the turkey in the center of the page. The entire background around the turkey is a red table cloth like material. The white text stands out against the darker background. They also include two article titles on the cover, one has a page number, the other does not. Ads are placed almost every other article and are focused towards food related topics or older generation stuff, like flight information and alcohol. The articles consist of recipes and reviews of restaurants or food. All of the pictures that aren't ads and focused around everything food and cooking. The Food & Wine magazine has been around for 40 years and in 2012 distributed almost 1 million issues.

For my revision deals with my two-paged article. My first version didn't have enough text and I needed to fit my pictures. So, When I went back to fix it, I used Adobe InDesign instead of Publisher. I fixed my body text and even added a quote from the owner that was off their website. Also, I made the title bigger and added a dominate photo underneath. On the second page, I fixed my other pictures and text to fit around them. It looks more professional and put together and I made sure to fill in all the extra white space I had without making the text itself look too big. Also added branding and page numbers to the bottom pages. Overall, I'm happy with the changes I made.  On my table of contents, I didn't change much. I added branding and the page number to the bottom corner. As a group we finalized the fonts we would be using, so I changed the font on the "contents" to one I had on my cover. Audience Engagement Research- Sale & Pepe

Sale & Pepe is a popular Italian magazine in Italy. They have a website that can be translated into English and other languages. and it includes recipes and subscriptions to their magazines. Their target audience is similar to mine because it focuses on aspiring cooks and people who just like looking at food. I looked up Italian based magazines and they are one of the first to pop up on google. So they must pay to have that top spot. Also they Offer them in other countries. I would take examples from here and use them in my own magazine on how to market them. Also they use Instagram to promote their magazine. I would also use Instagram and maybe Facebook for my magazine because its free and easy to use. Also because its so popular, many people will be able to view my content. But because its an Italy based magazine, I am not 100% sure if they use other marketing tactics like billboards or commercials. But i would use those to help get more locals to buy my magazine.

"How will your product engage with audiences" "How will it be distributed as a real media text" The magazines i researched focused a lot on certain types of food. Like the issue was based around one item or one culture.  Also majority of the magazines i researched, had other forms of  media for their brands. Bon appetit magazine also has a you tube channel to share content and information. Food network magazine has a whole tv network but also utilizes a website to help market and sell their magazine. With my magazine being  local based, I had the idea of creating a billboard on a main road in Sarasota, where i could spread publicity easier.   Basically for my magazine i would like to create an Instagram and other forms of media to lure/engage people in.
